Te Kura o Te Muriwai

Kura Taiao is an initiative developed by Te Kura o Te Muriwai. It is about informing teaching practice through the taiao and using kaiako and tauira passion for the taiao to drive learning through reading, writing and arithmetic. Integrating taiao observations and learning into the classroom-based activities links to the curriculum are also key. 

Matauranga Maori is science. This is empirical evidence based science that sits at the heart of Matauranga Maori. It is based on trial, error and experimentation. Connecting Matauranga Maori and Matauranga Taiao, tamariki at Te Kura o Te Muriwai will gain knowledge through the environment, which is the driving force to ignite passion for learning in the NZ Curriculum and the Marautanga o Aotearoa.
